ScotRail adds extra services and more seats in the lead up to Christmas

ScotRail is adding extra services and more seats to trains across the country in the run-up to Christmas.

There will be additional late-night weekend services on key routes, alongside longer trains at weekends right up until Christmas, helping more people travel to festive events, nights out, and shopping trips.

With Christmas markets, parties, and celebrations getting into full swing, the extra trains support the night-time economy and make it easier for customers to travel safely and sustainably in the lead up to Christmas.

The following additional late-night services will operate on Friday, 28 November, and Friday, 5, 12, and 19 December (post-midnight services refer to Friday night into the early hours of Saturday):

ScotRail will also make changes to its timetable from Sunday, 14 December. Most changes across the country are minor, but customers are encouraged to check their regular journeys on the ScotRail website or app as train times may have changed.

Mark Ilderton, ScotRail Service Delivery Director, said:

“The lead-up to Christmas is always one of the busiest times of the year, so we’re adding extra late-night trains on key routes and more seats across the country to help everyone make the most of the festive season.

“Travelling by train is one of the best ways to make the most of your celebrations, and with the removal of peak fares, customers can enjoy even more value for money when travelling with ScotRail this Christmas.

“Whether customers are heading to the Christmas markets, meeting friends for a night out, or picking up some last-minute gifts, we’ll help you get there safely and comfortably.”
